Chris Weidman, coming off a much needed win over Kelvin Gastelum, may have his next opponent in line. ‘Jacare’ Souza’s manager Gilberto Faria stated “I believe that Weidman might be the next fight, in late-December or early-January, if that’s a good date for the UFC to book this fight”. “When we get closer to that date, we’ll see more clearly what the options are for Jacare’s next opponent.”
Souza last fought in April in a loss to now interim title holder Robert Whittaker. He had surgery shortly after the defeat to repair a torn pectoral muscle. He’s due to start training again in October. According to Faria the UFC offered Souza fights with Rockhold and Machida but the dates didn’t work and both fighters were scheduled other opponents.
