War Machine Sentenced to 36 Years to Life
Former UFC and Bellator fighter, War Machine, who was formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver was sentenced to 36 years to life in prison by a Las Vegas judge on Monday.
War Machine was sentenced on 29 charges from a August 8th 2014 incident. On that date, War Machine broke into his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack’s house and brutally beat her and her current boyfriend Corey Thomas. He caused serious body injuries to both victims.
The charges included felony assault, sexual assaults, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
The Clark County district judge, Elissa Cadish listened to 20 hours of testimony over 3 days including testimony from Mack. At one point Mack stated “I do know that when he (War Machine) gets out, he will kill me”.
War Machine will be eligible for parole when he turns 71.
