The fight that seemed cursed is apparently back on. MMAJunkie is reporting that heavyweights Walt Harris and Mark Godbeer will fight each other at UFC 217.
The two were scheduled to fight each other at UFC 216 but the fight was canceled as soon as the fight was taken place. The matchup was changed several times between the Fight Pass Prelims portion of the card and the Pay Per View portion. The fight was finally scheduled for the Fight Pass Prelim but was bumped to the Pay Per View card after Derrick Lewis hurt his back and Lewis fight with Fabricio Werdum was canceled. However, to everyone’s surprise, the UFC bumped Harris from his fight against Godbeer and matched him up with Werdum. The former heavyweight champion, Werdum submitted Harris via armbar in just 65 seconds.
Prior to the loss to Werdum, Harris was riding a two-fight winning streak. His originally scheduled for, Godbeer was reportedly paid his show and win bonus for UFC 216. The Englishman Godbeer was looking for his second straight win in the Octagon after beating Daniel Spitz at UFC 209.
UFC 217 is scheduled for November 4th. It will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
