The UFC was in Singapore, airing fights on Fight Pass in the early morning hours. The fights started at 4:45 AM in the east coast.
In the main event of the evening, former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm squared off against former title challenger, Bethe Correia. Holm entered the contest off a three-fight losing streak.
The first two rounds of the fight were very slow. Holm stayed on the outside pump punching from out of range and throwing the occasional sidekick to Correia’s midsection. Correia attempted to counter by trying to time a right hand but mostly hit the air. The two women refused to engage which caused referee Marc Goddard to stop the contest and warn both fighters about inactivity.
The third round was also off to a slow start until Correia started to taunt Holm trying to get Holm to engage. She waived Holm in telling her to bring the action. Holm obliged the Brazilian fighter by landing a highkick to Correia’s head, putting Correia out. Holly Holm knocks out Bethe Correia at 1:09 on the third round.
