UFC Set To Debut In Russia

September 2017

RT Sport confirmed UFC to debut at Russia’s Olympiyskiy Stadium in September.

It is being reported that the UFC has booked the dates of September 14 and 15, 2018 at Moscow’s 35,000 seat Olympiyskiy Stadium. This could be related to an announcement made from undefeated UFC lightweight contender Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov 25-0 MMA (9-0 UFC) on his instagram hinting at a big announcement.

RT Sport confirmed through Nurmagomedov’s Father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who hinted at a possible bout in April vs UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson:

“Most likely, this event is going to be connected with us.  We will fight in April first with Tony Ferguson, and then we will receive a date for a fight with McGregor. Although I can’t exclude the possibility they will make us wait for Ferguson until September, and there won’t be an April fight. We have many good fighters who can fill the arena- Alexander Volkov, Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Mairbek Taisumov. Fans love Zabit Magomedsharipov now. Rustam Khabilov and Islam Makhachev can also join. Many will want to perform both in the UFC and at home at the same time. Plus it’s very interesting for fans.”

No other information on the bookings have been confirmed as of yet.
