There was a bunch of exciting finishes at Fight Night 110 in New Zealand and picking the bonuses tonight I know had to be challenging.
Mark Hunt is defying age with a huge win over the man on a 6 fight win streak Derrick Lewis. The first 3 rounds were Mark Hunt chasing down and hitting Lewis but every time Hunt came forward Lewis would be countering with bombs of his own. After 3 rounds Lewis just looked gassed and Hunt realized that, picking up the pace and eventually getting the TKO victory in the 4th round. After the fight Derrick Lewis said it may have been his last fight in the UFC.
Derek Brunson put himself back on the map and went back to his old ways of knocking guys out in the first round as he used his patented left hand to KO Daniel Kelly in the first round.
After a very close first round that was a back and forth striking battle between featherweights Dan Hooker and Ross Pearson, Hooker was able to finish Pearson with a brutal knee in the second round.
Ion Cutelaba only needed 22 seconds to TKO Henrique da Silva. Ben Nguyen submitted ranked Tim Elliot after a scramble that led to be Nguyen being able to take the back and sink in a rear naked choke in 49 seconds.
The main card kicked off with an exciting featherweight fight where Alex Volkanovski defeated Mizuoto Hirota in a one sided decision. Volkanovski controlled the action in the stand up battle and also with timely take downs and vicious ground and pound.
