The UFC gave bad news to five of their fighters today. They gave the fighters their pink slips. The fighters were Henrique da Silva, Hacran Dias, Adriano Martina, Carlos Felipe, and former Pride FC lightweight champion, Takanori Gomi.

Gomi was a legendary fighter in Pride FC. He won the lightweight Grand Prix to be crowned the lightweight champion. After Pride was bought by the UFC, the UFC took on Gomi’s contract. Gomi started his stint in the organization with mixed results. He started out 4-4 in the organization but would lose his five next fights, all by 1st round stoppages. The Japanese legend is 39 years old and finishes with a 4-9 UFC record.

da Silva began his UFC career with two straight wins but would drop his next four fights. The man called “Frankenstein” was knocked out by kickboxing legend, Gohkan Saki in his last fight.

Martins is the only fighter cut to end with a winning UFC record. The Brazilian fighter finished with a 4-3 UFC record. He fell on hard times in his last two fights. He lost back to back fights with Leo Santos and Kajan Johnson.

Dias is a training partner of former featherweight champion, Jose Aldo Jr. He entered the UFC with a lot of hype but didn’t live up to it. He finished with a 3-5 UFC record and dropped his last three fights. Dias lost a decision to Jared Gordon in his last fight.

Felipe never fought in the UFC. He signed a contract with the organization and was scheduled to fight Christian Colombo, but was removed from the contest due to a USADA violation. The Brazilian was suspended two years by USADA.
