UFC Belem Recap: Douglas Silva De Andrade Outperforms Marlon Vera And Takes The UD

This is a fight between top bantamweight contender Ecuadorian Marlon ”Chito” Vera and Brazil-born Douglas Silva de Andrade.

Vera makes his second consecutive trip to Brazil and is looking to put behind his unanimous decision to John Lineker. We are looking at a fighter who prior Linekar’s defeat had an impressive three-fight winning streak with wins over Brad Pickett and Brian Kelleher.

De Andrade, has had an impressive start to his career with a whopping 22 wins and zero defeats. His first loss was in his UFC debut against  Zubaira Tukhugov. He then won a fight against Henry Briones in 2016 via TKO and ended up losing his second fight at UFC 213 via submission against Rob Font.

Round 1:

The round starts with both fighters quickly going at it. We see a quick kick from De Andrade and then both fighters measure distance by trading kicks. De Andrade however keeps busy and ends up throwing a lot more kicks. De Andrade then rocks Vera with a powerful punch but Vera quickly recuperates and trades back. We then see De Andrade keeps throwing a few more kicks and successfully going for the takedown in the final seconds of the round. With a beautiful takedown hee ends the round dominant.

Round 2:

Vera starts the round by connecting leg kicks and De Andrade quickly tries to capitalize with a punching combination. We then see a big hook by De Andrade and he quickly takes advantage, closes distance tries to finish the fight. Chito, however, maintains distance and gets back some offense of his own. De Andrade then throws beautiful combinations making it hard for Vera to respond. Vera just misses with the head kick and De Andrade quickly capitalizes with another great combination. The round ends with De Andrade grabbing Vera by the back but the bell doesn’t allow for a takedown attempt.

Round 3:

The final Round gets underway, both fighters start trading straight off the bell. Silva keeps landing his big over hand right punches and stunning Vera. We see De Andrade refusing Vera to find his pace throughout the fight. He misses an uppercut and both guys start then landing in a back and forth trade. De Andrade howver keeps the busier man once again. We see some nice shots by De Andrade, he keeps mixing both elbows, body shots and kicks. The bell goes off and once again De Andrade ends the fight looking the most dominant and busier man.

Official Result and scorecard: Douglas de Andrade wins the via unanimous decision. All three judges score the fight 30-27, 30-27, 30-27.
