UFC 220 Recap: Makhachev Flattens Tibau in the First Round


The first pay per view of 2018 kicks off with  UFC veteran Gleison Tibau (33-12) , taking kn

on sambo artist Islam Makhachev (14-1).

Tibau is making his return after a 2 year suspension for failing an in-competition drug test. Previous to the failed test, he was on a two-fight losing streak; falling to Tony Ferguson and having his win again Abel Trujillo overturned and changed  to a disqualification after the aforementioned failed test.


Makhachev, a combat sambo world champion, and is currently on a two-fight win streak.He was last seen in February of 2017 picking up a decision win over Nik Lentz. He is 3-1 all overall in the organization with his lone loss being handed to him by Adriano Martins in 2015.

Round 1:

Tibau lands a heavy leg kick. Both men are still finding their range. BOOM! Makhachev drops Tibau with a hard left and Makhachev follows him to the ground with punches. Tibau is unconscious and the referee steps in to save him.
