This was the last fight of UFC 219 Prelims.

Khalil ‘The War Horse’ Rountree (7-3) faced the young Michal ‘Lord’ Oleksiejczuk (13-2)  who made his UFC debut. He replaced the MMA rising star Saki Gokhan on short notice due to a suffered knee injury. Rountree came from two imposing KO victories while the Polish-born Oleksiejczuk made his entrance to the octagon coming from an impressive nine-win streak.

At just 22 years of age and on his UFC debut, Oleksiejczuk gets the win on the judge’s scorecards via UD in what was a dominant performance.

The bell rings and it is time :

Round 1:

In the first round, we see an aggressive start from both fighters with Rountree throwing leg kicks and explosive combinations. Both fighters trade shots at each other but Oleksiejczuk lands a takedown and gets caught in an unsuccessful guillotine by Rountree.

As we’re approaching the end of the round, Rountree keeps his aggressive combinations with power shots but his poor cardio starts playing a factor. He starts slowing down enabling Oleksiejczuk to close the round dominant.

The MMA Takeover scored the round: 10 – 9 in favor of Rountree

Round 2:

Round 2 starts slower and both fighters trade cautiously. Rountree then starts throwing combinations but again his heart rate starts slowing down, enabling Oleksiejczuk to show his technical striking.  As Rountree gets more and more stationary his combinations get more ineffective.

The MMA Takeover scored the round: 10- 9 in favor of Oleksiejczuk

Round 3:

Rountree starts round 3 by pressing forward but Oleksiejczuk lands his second successful takedown of the fight where he keeps busy on the top.

Most of this round was spent on the ground where Oleksiejczuk was the most dominant fighter looking very composed and displaying great side control.

At just 22 years of age, Oleksiejczuk ends the 3rd round in a very dominant position

The MMA Takeover scored the round: 10-8 in favor of Oleksiejczuk

The MMA Takeover final score: 29 – 26 in favor of  Oleksiejczuk
