The UFC matchmakers have been extremely busy recently. With a bunch of UFC cards coming up, the matchmakers have been filling them.
Here are some of the recent fight announcements that you might have missed. Plus one from Rizin.
Germaine de Randamie vs Ketlen Vieira
Former UFC featherweight champion will return to action for the first time since being stripped of the title. She will fight Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night 125.
de Randamie is on a three-fight winning streak. She beat Holly Holm at UFC 208 to become the inagural UFC women’s featherweight champion, however, she was stripped of the title when she refused to defend it against Cris “Cyborg” Justino. She also will be moving back to bantamweight.
Vieira is undefeated and 3-0 in the UFC. She beat Sara McMann by submission in her last fight which is the biggest win of her career.
The two women fight on February 3rd in Belem, Brazil.
Ray Borg vs Brandon Moreno
Ray Borg will attempt to bounce back to his embarrassing submission loss to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 216 when he takes on Brandon Moreno. Prior to his flyweight title loss to Johnson, Borg was on a 2 fight winning streak, with wins over Louis Smolka and Jussier “Formiga” da Silva.
Moreno will also be looking to rebound from a loss. He was beaten by Sergio Pettis in August. Prior to the loss, he was on an 11 fight winning streak.
The two will fight February 18th in Austin, Texas.
Jason Knight vs Gabriel Benitez
Both Jason Knight and Gabriel Benitez will be looking to recover from a loss when they fight each other at UFC Fight Night 123. Knight was beaten by Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214, while Benitez lost a decision to Enqrique Barzola in his last fight.
UFC Fight Night 123 is scheduled for December 9th in Fresno, California.
Shane Burgos vs Calvin Kattar
Top game management announced on Instagram that their fighter, Calvin Kattar will fight Shane Burgos at UFC 220.
Burgos is an undefeated fighter with a 3-0 UFC record. He is coming off a decision win over Godofredo Pepey. Kattar is 18-2. He made his UFC debut at UFC 214, where he upset Andre Fili.
UFC 220 is scheduled for January 20th in Boston, Massachusetts.
3 Fights Added to UFC St. Louis
The UFC has added 3 fights to when they come to St Louis. Those 3 fights are Thiago Alves vs Zak Cummings, James Krause vs Alex White, and Marco Polo Reyes vs Matt Frevola.
Alves, who is a former title challenger will be returning to action for the first time since his win over Patrick Cote at UFC 210. He was supposed to face Mike Perry in September, but couldn’t travel due to Hurricane Irma. Cummings is on a two-fight winning streak. He beat Nathan Coy in his last fight in April.
Krause will be moving back down to lightweight after a very brief run at welterweight. He was a contestant on the 25th season of the Ultimate Fighter but lost in the semi-finals. He would beat Tom Gallicchio in his last fight though. White is coming off a loss over Mitch Clarke.
Marco Polo Reyes is coming off a loss to James Vick at UFC 211. Frevola will be making his UFC debut He beat Jose Flores on the 8th installment of Dana White’s Tuesday Night’s Contender Series.
3 Fights Added to UFC Fight Night 122
So everyone knows that Michael Bisping has replaced Anderson Silva and will fight Kelvin Gastelum in the main event, but the UFC has also added 3 more fights to the card. Those 3 fights are Bobby Nash vs Kenan Song, Pingyuan Liu vs Bharat Khandare, and Rolando Dy vs Wuliji Buren.
Nash is winless so far in the UFC. He was knocked out in back to back fights to Li Jingliang and Danny Roberts. Song is making his UFC debut. The Chinese fighter has won 6 fights in a row.
Both Liu and Khandare will be making their UFC debuts. Liu is also a Chinese fighter, while Khandare is a Indian born fighter.
Dye will be looking to pick up his first win in the UFC. He lost to Alex Caceres and Teruto Ishihara in his two UFC fights. Buren is also a Chines fighter making his UFC debut.
UFC Fight Night 122 is scheduled for November 25th in Shanghai, China
Mirko Cro Cop vs Tsuyoshi Kohsaki in Rizin
Rizin officials have announced the return Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. The MMA and kickboxing legend will take on longtime veteran, Tsuyoshi “TK” Kohsaki.
Cro Cop will be coming out of retirement for the 2nd time to try to extend his 7 fight winning streak. He hasn’t fought since winning the 2016 Rizin Open-Weight Grand Prix.
TK has gone 1-1 in MMA since ending a 9-year retirement.
The two veterans will fight at Rizin FF9 World Grand Prix Final Round on December 31st in Saitama, Japan.
