Stars Report: Jones vs Cormier Saga Continues

See which UFC stars are making headlines this week in the Stars Report.

Here are the headlines.

    • Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones get in a Twitter feud over a fans tweet towards Cormier. The fan sent a tweet towards Cormier asking about Jones possibly knocking him out in a potential rematch. Which in reply Cormier tweeted, “He won’t. He doesn’t have that ability. He never has. Even when he juiced his way to deadlifting 600lbs he couldn’t KO Ovince.” Jon Jones processed to respond to the shot Cormier took at him about juicing. Jones tweeted, “@dc_mma do you really think I took steroids or is this just another thing you tell yourself to sleep better after I made u forever my bitch.” In response Cormier tweeted, “U hid from usada bruh. Yes u did steroids. You have always done steroids. I tried to cheat me. So shut your bum ass up.” The constant back and for jawing from these two just keeps building the anticipation of a fight we all want to see.

    • Wouldn’t be fitting if we didn’t have someone weigh in on the possible McGregor Vs Mayweather Jr fight. This time it’s Georges St-Pierre. St-Pierre told RT Sports that he is not convinced that McGregor can outbox Mayweather. He believes the fight will happen but goes on to say, “I don’t think he’s going to win at all, but I think he wants to do it and he’s going to make a lot of money out of it.”

    • Also in the interview with RT Sports, George’s St-Pierre started a little trash talking with his up coming fight with Michael Bisping. When asked about facing the taller and heavier Bisping, St. Pierre responded, “Of course Michael Bisping will be bigger than me but I believe that will be the only advantage that he will have. Technically, tactically, athletically, I have all the edges on him….The only difference is when he hits the floor, it’s gonna make a bigger boom.” As of now no date has been set for the fight between St. Pierre and Bisping.

    • Cormier will fighter either Jones or Jimi Manuwa. It all depends on what Jon Jones decides he wants to do Dana White told ESPN. Dana White said, “If Jones is ready to fight on July 29th, we’ll see the Jones vs. Cormier rematch, finally.” In the ESPN report if Jon Jones decides he wants a tuneup before facing Cormier, then Cormier will face Manuwa in a title fight in July. Either way we will see Cormier defending his title this July.

    • Everyone wants a shot at Jon Jones with his return set for this July. “The title shot is a big goal for everyone in the sport, but for me, the opportunity to beat Jones is almost the same thing,” were the words that came from contender Alexander Gustafsson. With Jones potentially wanting a warmup before facing Cormier, Gustafsson has stated he would gladly take the opportunity.

    • After defending his title yet again, Demetrious Johnson has shot down any rumors/talks of a potential mega fight with Cody Garbrandt. Johnson told the MMA Hour that he has talked to Garbrandt and that they both decided to not fight each other. Who Johnson wants to fight next is unclear, but he will let his body rest for now and will decide after that.

    • According to ESPN, Dana White has given out what he projects both McGregor and Mayweather Jr would make of the mega fight were to take place. White projected that Mayweather would make around 100 million dollars while McGregor would make a little less and bring home $75 million dollars.
    • Conor McGregor has been named one of Time magazines 100 most influential people of 2017. An honor that no combat sports fighters have ever achieved. His profile for the magazine was written by action movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
