Ex-interim UFC Heavyweight champion Shane Carwin has made it clear he wants in the Bellator Heavyweight tournament stating on his Facebook page; “I sent Bellator MMA a request to get on as an Alternate for this amazing tournament. I really can’t wait to watch it either way but I am so pumped up for it I had to get my name on a list. I’d love a real title.”
Carwin (12-2) was on a two fight losing streak and hasn’t fought since a decision loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 in 2011 before retiring. He’s hinted at coming out of retirement before, but at 42-years old and out of the sport for over six years I’m not sure it can be taken too seriously. Carwin was known for his KO power and certainly would draw some attention if he somehow were to make it into the tournament.
