The UFC announced today a marquee matchup between two former UFC champions. They announced that former welterweight champion, Robbie Lawler will square off against the former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos for the main event of UFC on Fox 26.
Lawler will be looking to continue to make his way back to carrying the UFC strap. After dropping his title to current champion, Tyron Woodley at UFC 201, Lawler defeated Donald Cerrone at UFC 214. Dos Anjos is trying to be the fourth fighter in UFC history to win titles in two separate weight classes. Since moving to welterweight, dos Anjos is 2-0. He beat Tarec Saffiedine and Neil Magny in back to back fights.
Dos Anjos took to Twitter and suggested that the fight should be for the Interim welterweight title.
Am'I the only one that thinks that this fight should be for a interim title? Since the champ is out until next year?

UFC on Fox is scheduled for December 16th in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
