Rampage Thought King Mo Rematch was at a Catchweight

Our very own partner, Kyle Steele was part of the Bellator 175 media conference call representing the Loud Mouth MMA Podcast and our site. During the conference, former UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton ‘Rampage” Jackson and former StrikeForce light heavyweight champion, Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal traded insults at each other. However confusion set in when the weight limit was brought up.

The fight which is scheduled at Heavyweight (265 lbs limit) was brought up to King Mo, ‘who stated that he wasn’t worried about the extra weight and had declined fighting Rampage at a catch weight”. Rampage responded by saying “Guess what? You ain’t fighting me at heavyweight, you are fighting me at a catchweight”. King Mo corrected Rampage and informed him that the fight was at heavyweight.

Jackson responded that he was surprised and that his coach had been telling him that it was at a 235 lbs. catchweight. Eventually Lawal and the rest of the media convinced Rampage that the fight is indeed at heavyweight.

Rampage stated that as he has gotten older, it is much harder for him to make the light heavyweight limit and he wants to continue to fight at heavyweight.

The two square off in the main event of Bellator 175 on March 31st. This is their second meeting. Rampage won a controversial decision over King Mo in May of 2014.
