Quick Hits 7/5: Fighter Killer, Hughes Recovery, & More

Here are some of the headlines that you might have missed over the holiday:

  • American Top Team Fighter, Aaron Rajman was shot and killed late Monday Night. The police report that several men entered Rajman’s home in Boca Raton, Florida when Rajman was shot. Rajman was 2-2 in MMA and was only 25 years old.
  • Beth Hughes, the sister of former UFC welterweight champion, and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes gave an update on his recovery. Hughes was involved in a car accident on June 16th when his vehicle was struck by a moving train. Hughes sister stated that Hughes has been taken off a ventilator and is showing “small signs of improvement”. Hughes has been in an Illinois hospital since the accident.
  • Just days before Jared Cannonier was set to fight Steve Bosse at The Ultimate Fighter Season 25 Finale, Bosse has been removed due to injury. Cannonier will now face UFC newcomer Nick Roehrick. Roehrick is undefeated. Cannonier will enter the contest off a loss to Glover Teixeira. They will face each other on July 7th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Albert Morales will replace Mitch Gagnon and face Bree Johns at UFC Fight Night 113 on July 16th in Glasgow, Scotland. Gagnon was removed from the fight due to injury. Morales enters the fight off a split decision over Andre Soukhamthath, while Johns enters the fight off a win over Kwan Ho Kwak.
  • Bryan Barberena will face Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 115 on September 2nd in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Barberena enters the fight off a knockout win over Joe Proctor, while Edwards is riding a three-fight winning streak.
  • Invicta FC announced two title fights for Invicta FC 25 on August 31st in Lemoore, California. They announced that Yana Kunitskaya and Raquel Pa’aluhi will fight for the vacant bantamweight title, while Livia Renato Souza will face Jodie Esquibel at for the vacant strawweight title.
