ONE Championship Crowns 1st 2 Division Champ

Only Loss Avenged

Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen 10-1 MMA picked up his second strap at ONE Championship 64, moving up a weight class and becoming the organization’s first 2 division champ.

Extending his winning streak to 6 in a row and in the process collecting two belts, Nguyen made history for ONE Championship as the reigning featherweight and now lightweight champion. Handing now former champ, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang 18-6 MMA, his fourth career KO loss. Nguyen now has stoppages in all ten of his victories.

Nguyen’s only defeat in his amateur or pro career came at ONE Championship 31 to Marat “Cobra” Gafurov 15-1 MMA back in September 2015, who at the time was 12-0. The fight was for the interim featherweight belt due to the champion Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa’s visa issues preventing his title defense. Gafurov sunk in a Rear-Naked Choke at just 41 seconds of the first round claiming the interim belt.

Two years later at ONE Championship Quest For Greatness, Nguyen returned the favor defeating Gafurov by KO in the second round. In doing so, avenging his only loss and claiming the featherweight title.

Other notable bouts on the card were:
Adriano Moraes def. Danny Kingad 1st rnd. RNC to defend his flyweight belt
Alex Silva def. Hayato Suzuki 1st rnd. armbar
Reece McLaren def. Anatpong Bunrad 1st rnd. D’Arce choke
ZhiKang Zhao def. Thai Rithy 1st rnd. RNC
Joshua Pacio def. Roy Doliguez 2nd rnd. KO (spinning backfist)
