There was plenty of moves over the weekend.
First, it was announced that former Bellator fighter Marcin Held will return to the cage after coming off a extremely controversial decision loss to Joe Lauzon when he takes on Bosnian fighter, Damir Hadzovic at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28th in Stockholm, Sweden. Hadzovic returns after a 13 month layoff in which he lost to Mairbek Taisumov.
Second, Colby Covington made headlines by standing on the side of the road begging for a fight. He stated that he badly wants to fight former UFC lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos when do Anjos makes his long awaited welterweight debut. However it was announced that dos Anjos will square off against former StrikeForce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine.The two will meet at UFC Fight Night 111 on June 17th in Kalling, Singapore. dos Anjos enters the contest after back to back losses to Eddie Alvarez and Tony Ferguson while Saffiedine comes in off a highly debated decision loss to Dong Hyun Kim.
Third, it was announced that undefeated flyweights Naoki Inoue and Carl John de Tomas will make their UFC debuts against each other at UFC Fight Night 111.
Fourth, it was announced that Lyman Good’s suspension fom USADA has been reduced to six months. Good was originally suspended by USADA for testing positive for a banned substance that was taken on October 24th before his scheduled UFC 205 fight against Belal Muhammad. It was discovered that Good’s positive test was do to a tainted substance. Good will be available to return to action after April 24th.
Lastly, the UFC has announced that UFC on Fox 25 will be held on July 22nd at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Tickets go on sale on June 2nd. No fights have been announced yet.
