The announcement of former UFC heavyweight champion, Fabricio Werdum vs former K1 and StrikeForce champion, Alistair Overeem to match up for third time made the headlines, but several other matchups were also announced.
Daniel Hooker announced on Instagram that he that he will return to the octagon at UFC Fight Night 110 on June 10th in Auckland, New Zealand, when he faces for “Ultimate Fighter Winner” Ross Pearson. Hooker, who has been fighting at featherweight would return to the lightweight division. Hooker enters the contest off of a decision loss to Jason Knight. Pearson enters the contest on a 3 fight losing career.
In the most surprising announcement, former Ultimate Fighter Live cast mate Vinc Pichel will return to the octagon after a three year layoff and face Damien Brown. Pichel, who is 2-1 in the UFC and riding a 2 fight winning streak has missed a huge amount of time due to injury. Brown is also 2-1 in the UFC and also riding a two fight win streak.
Clay Guida will also return to the lightweight division when he fights Erik Koch at UFC Fight Night 112 on June 25th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The fight was announced on Wednesday’s UFC Tonight. Guida, who has been fighting in the UFC for 11 years now, leaves the featherweight divsion after two straight losses. Koch, who also recently moved to the lightweight division from featherweight, he will enter the contest coming off a loss to Shane Campbell.
