The UFC has made some major changes to the UFC featherweight division on Saturday. Jon Anik and Dan Hardy confirmed during UFC Fight Night 101 broadcast, that current featherweight champion Conor McGregor has relinquished his 145 pound belt. They also stated that previous interim champion, Jose Aldo Jr, will be declared the undisputed champion.
They went on further to state that the matchup between Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 10th will fight for the UFC interim featherweight belt, and will replace Daniel Cormier vs Anthony Johnson fight as the main event. They stated that the winner of that fight will face Jose Aldo Jr in 2017 to reunited the two titles,
Anik and Hardy also announced that Kelvin Gastelum will replace Rashad Evans, and face Tim Kennedy at a middleweight contest of the main card of UFC 206.
