Mayweather vs McGregor Live Gate Does Not Set a New Record

While it is expected that the boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Conor McGregor will set an All-Time Pay Per View record, the fight did not set a new live gate record.  The Nevada State Athletic Commission is now second after pulled in $55.4 million in ticket sales. The actual record is Mayweather’s fight against Manny Pacquiao, which took place in 2015 and pulled in $72.2 million.

This is a very disappointing mark. Promotor Leonard Ellerbe stated that they already sold $60 million in tickets weeks before the scheduled fight. The event sold 13,094 tickets with an additional 137 complimentary tickets.

Mayweather vs McGregor was held at the T-Mobile Arena on August 26th.
