MMA Today is reporting that former UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has been forced to pull out of his scheduled main event fight against Ovince St. Preaux. The two were scheduled to fight each other in the main event of UFC Fight Night 117 in Saitama, Japan.
This would have been a rematch. St Preaux knocked Shogun out back in November of 2014.
The UFC has not yet confirmed the news. There is also no word yet on if anybody will replace Shogun.
The two were scheduled to face each other next Saturday, September 23rd.
UPDATED: Former middleweight title challenger, Yushin Okami will return to the UFC and replace Shogun. He will fight Ovince St. Preaux.
