UFC Signs Matt Bessette to Fight Enrique Barzola at UFC 220

Nolan King is reporting that Matt Bessette will fight Enrique Barzola at UFC 220.

Barzola is a fighter out of Peru with a 13-3 record. He will be making his 5th appearance in the UFC and currently has a  3-1 record in the UFC.  He is on a two-fight winning streak with back to back wins over Chris Avila and Gabriel Benitez. Barzola was originally supposed to fight Arnold Allen, who withdrew today from the contest due to VISA issues.

Bessette has long been a staple of the New England MMA scene. He has compiled a 22-7 record over his 10-year career. He is a veteran of Bellator MMA and the current CES MMA featherweight champion. Bessette last fought on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series where he originally lost to Kurt Holobaugh. The fight was changed to a No-Contest due to a USADA violation by Holobaugh.


UFC 220 is scheduled for January 20th in Boston, Massachusetts.
