Mark Hunt Pressures UFC; Verbally Agrees to Fight Overeem
Mark Hunt (#10) has verbally agreed to fight Alistair Overeem (#4) but has yet to sign any paperwork.
The matchup, tentatively set for UFC 209 on March 4 in Las Vegas, has a possibility of not happening at all. Hunt states that he will not sign the contract unless a protective proviso is added. After his fight with Brock Lesnar at UFC 200, Lesnar tested positive for banned substances. Hunt was furious after the discovery and demanded to be paid part of Lesnar’s purse.
If Hunt has his way, the UFC will add a clause to the fight contract stating that if Overeem tests positive, Alistair’s entire fight purse will be given to him. Overeem tested positive for steroids in 2012.
Hunt and Overeem had fought in 2008 with Overeem winning by a first round submission. Hunt looks to avenge his loss.
