Mairbek Taisumov Calls Out Nate Diaz: Puts Lightweights On Blast
Calling Out Everyone
Mairbek Taisumov has been on the sideline for some time now. His performance at UFC Fight Night 115 spoke for him.
Taisumov (26-5) is now on a five fight win streak in the lightweight division. His most recent win was stopping Felipe Silva with a highlight reel knockout just 1:24 into round number 1 at UFC Fight Night 115 which took place at Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Post fight he put the entire division on blast. Taisumov stated, “I am really happy to be back in this octagon. I say this before, and I’m going to tell this again: I’m here not to talk, I’m here to smash, smash anyone who steps into the octagon with me. I need top 10 (opponent). I need top 10. Anyone. These guys don’t want to fight me. I ask all top-10 fighters; nobody wants to fight me. I am five finishes in a row, all knockouts, TKO’s. Hey, UFC, Sean (Shelby), I think I deserve that.”
Taisumov went on to point the finger at a few specific lightweights. Michael Chiesa was one of the fighters on his list. “Michael Chiesa, he says if I beat someone else he wants to fight me, but since I finish three guys in a row, he doesn’t answer anymore.” Anthony Pettis was another name he threw out there. “Pettis, he says I’m not famous enough to fight me.”
Stockton’s finest was the third name he mentioned and it seemed as if he had a bit more behind this one. Taisumov said, “Nate Diaz says he’s the best, Nate Diaz is the best; he says if UFC pays him $20 million he’s going to fight me in my home country, but I think he smokes too much.”
With a huge statement win and calling out some of the top lightweights, I guess we will see if anyone takes him up on his offer.
