Jose Aldo Jr vs Ricardo Lamas and Two More Matches added to UFC on Fox 26

UFC announced today that a featherweight matchup between #2 Jose Aldo Jr and #4 Ricardo Lamas (rankings via themmatakeover.com) has been added to December’s UFC on Fox 26. This will be the second time that the pair has faced each other. The First time was back in February of 2014. Then champion Aldo Jr defeated Lamas to remain UFC’s featherweight champion.

Aldo Jr comes into this fight losing 2 of his last 3 fights. His two losses have come against current featherweight champion Max Holloway and current lightweight champion Conor McGregor. On the other end, Lamas is coming off of two straight finishes since losing to Max Holloway last year. His two finishes have come against Charles Oliveira (2nd round submission) and Jason Knight (1st round TKO). Both fighters will be looking for a major victory here to solidify their chances at a title shot.

The UFC also announced two welterweights matchups for the card. Sluggers Mike Perry and Santiago Ponzinnibbia will do violence to each other, while Erick Silva and Jordan Mein will collided.

Perry is 4-1 with four knockouts since joining the UFC. He defeated Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes in his last two matches. His only loss so far is to Alan Jouban. Ponzinnibbia has also been hot. He is currently riding a five-fight winning streak including pulling off an upset of Gunnar Nelson in his last fight.

Silva and Mein are both looking to get back on the winning ways. Silva has lost three out of his last four fights, while Mein is on a three-fight losing streak himself. The two could be fighting to keep their jobs.

UFC on Fox 26 is set to take place on December 16th in Winnipeg. The card will be headlined by Robbie Lawler vs Rafael dos Anjos.
