Dana White has announced that if Jon Jones (21-1) is ready to fight by the end of July, he will face Daniel Cormier (18-1) for the Light Heavyweight Championship.
It is no secret that the two fighters have bad blood between them and a rematch will certainly sell tickets. White has said previously that Jones’s first fight back will not be a main event, but it’s hard to believe he’ll stick to his word.
The two were scheduled to fight at UFC 200 after Jones initially made his return against Ovince St Preux. The fight was canceled after USADA flagged a drug test from Jones. Cormier went on to face and beat Anderson Silva at the event. Cormier also recently defended his title against Anthony Johnson, although there was some weigh in controversy. Johnson has since retired.
If the fight goes through, the audience in Anaheim is in for a treat.
