John “The Magican” Dodson (19-9 MMA, 8-4 UFC) is looking to rebound following his close split decision loss to Marlon “Magic” Moraes (20-5-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 120. Dodson, a two time flyweight title challenger, is 2-2 since making the move up to bantamweight. First he defeated now retired Manny “The Anvil” Gamburyan (15-10-1NC MMA, 6-8-1 UFC) via technical knockout in just 47 seconds. Then was the Main Event for UFC Fight Night 96, where he lost a close split decision to John “Hands of Stone” Lineker (30-8 UFC, 11-3 UFC). He rebounded 5 months later in his most recent win against Eddie Wineland (23-12-1 MMA, 5-6 UFC) by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 108.
Pedro “The Young Punisher” Munhoz (15-2-1NC MMA, 5-2-1NC UFC) has the momentum coming into this bout, coming in on a 4-fight winning streak. He submitting Russell Doane (15-7 MMA, 3-4 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 90, then submitting Justin “Tank” Scoggins (11-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 100. Six months later he won a unanimous decision over Damian “Webster” Stasiak (10-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 109 and then most recently upsetting Rob Font (14-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) via first round submission at UFC Fight Night 109. This will be back to back Brazilian shows for Munhoz, who will be looking to extend his winning streak to five.
This bout will be contested at bantamweight (135 lbs).
