James “ The Texecutioner” Vick (12-1 in MMA, 8-1 in UFC) will finally get a chance to fight in his home state when he takes on Francisco “ Massaranduba” Trinaldo (22-5 in MMA 11-4 in UFC)at UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs Medeiros in February.
Vick is on a four fight win streak and was last seen picking up a TKO win over Joseph Duffy at UFC 217 in November. The Texan has been adamant about wanting a top-ranked opponent and has claimed that the upper echelon of the lightweight division has been “ducking” him. While Trinaldo is not a top ten opponent, he is considered by many to be among the top 15 lightweights in the world. A win over him, especially if it’s in impressive fashion could guarantee Vick a higher ranked opponent in his next bout.
Trinaldo is coming off a big win over Jim Miller. Trinaldo will also be looking to break into the top ten after having a very impressive streak halted by the highly ranked Kevin Lee last year. “Massaranduba” is 8-1 in his last 9 and has had an impressive UFC career picking up wins over the likes of Ross Pearson, Yancy Medeiros, and Paul Felder to name a few.
