Injuries hit MMA hard on Wednesday.
Just three days before UFC 211, the matchup between Henry Cejudo and Anthony Pettis has been canceled. The Olympic gold medalist, Cejudo has suffered a hand injury causing the fight to be removed.
The fight was scheduled to kick off the Pay Per View portion of the card. There is no word yet which fight will replace the canceled flyweight showdown.
Pettis will be paid his show money if he successfully makes weight on Friday’s weigh-ins.
The flyweight division took another hit, as former title contender Joseph Benavidez announced that he has withdrawn from his UFC Fight Night 110 matchup against Ben Nguyen due to an undisclosed injury. The fight was scheduled for June 10th in Auckland, New Zealand. There is no replacement announced yet.
Lastly, just over a week before Michael Page fought in front of his home country crowd, he was forced to withdraw from the contest due to a knee injury. Page was scheduled to face Derek Anderson at Bellator 179 on May 19th. Anderson was removed from the card also.
