Formiga vs Nguyen and Pedro vs Safarov Added to UFC 221

During a day of many fights falling apart, the UFC has been able to add two fights to UFC 221. An Australian website, which was confirmed by MMAJunkie is reporting that Jussier “Formiga” da Silva will fight Ben Nguyen. The same outlet is also reporting that Tyson Pedro will fight Saparbek Safarov the same night.


Formiga is currently ranked 6th at flyweight by the MMA Takeover. He has been a mainstay in the flyweight rankings. The Brazilian fighter is coming off a 1st round submission of Ulka Sasaki in September. Nguyen has been red hot. He has won 10 out of his last 12 fights. He picked up the biggest win in his career in his last fight when he beat Tim Elliott by submission in just 49 seconds.

Both Pedro and Safarov are coming off the first losses in their your careers. Pedro, who is an Australia fighter, is 2-1 in the UFC. He lost a decision to Ilir Latifi in his last fight. Safarov is a fighter out of Russia. He lost a short notice fight against Gian Villante in his UFC debut.

UFC 221 is scheduled for February 10th in Perth, Western Australia, Australia.
