Sijara “Sarj” Eubanks 2-2 MMA has been hospitalized due to weight cutting issues and Roxanne “The Happy Warrior” Modafferi 21-13 MMA (0-1 UFC) will replace her in first UFC strawweight title bout. Eubanks defeated Modafferi by decision for the last spot vs Nicco Montano 3-2 MMA at TUF 26 Finale.
Modafferi made her WMMA pro debut in November 2003. She has fought for many different organizations including Strikeforce, Invicta and even competed in the UFC and 2 seasons of TUF. She will be looking to continue her journey through WMMA by becoming the first UFC womens strawweight champion.
Montano has only been active in WMMA for 2 years. She came into the TUF house with only 3 wins and as the number 14 seed has now made it all the way to the title bout. Her last pro bout was a decision loss to undefeated Julia Avila 3-0 MMA at HD MMA 7 in January 2017.
Below is a post from Modafferi’s twitter account
I’m excited for the opportunity. I also hope Sijara gets better quickly. A weight cut to the point of hospitalization can be serious. https://t.co/l0pjDgV4mw
