Dana White: “No Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson. Nurmagomedov’s Father Turns Down Offer for Jose Aldo Jr”
During a 30 minute press scrum on Wednesday, UFC President Dana White stated that he was unable to set up an interim title fight between lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, because “Ferguson refused to honor his deal”. White stated that Ferguson wanted to make as much money as Nurmagomedov for the fight, and the UFC refused. White stated that current UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo Jr offered to fight Nurmagomedov, but Nurmagomedov’s father refused the fight. He said that Nurmagomedov only wants to fight current lightweight champion, Conor McGregor or Ferguson.
Nurmagomedov has disputed White’s comments on Instagram today. This is what he posted directly to the UFC’s Instagram.
“It is clear to everyone that you hiding Conor from me. But stop lying to your fans like I don’t want fight with Aldo, I’m ready to fight with anyone in my division. Give me a relevant fight, so you won’t be able to hide the belt from me after. But not the fight, where people say after my victory: he is too small, Khabib too big for him etc. I’m asking you for match that whole world is waiting for, give me Tony. You have never matched up two guys with 9 and 8 win streak in UFC, Never in UFC History. #tellthepeople”
