Conor McGregor’s Coaches Want Him to Face Nate Diaz Next

While everyone is debating who Conor McGregor should fight next, his coaches want him to fight Nate Diaz next. Brett Okamoto is reporting that McGregor’s head coach, John Kavanagh has said that he wants his fighter to finish his trilogy with Nate Diaz before fighting anybody else. The SBG coach also stated that he doesn’t think McGregor will fight again until 2018.

This news comes one day after McGregor’s boxing coach, Owen Roddy told Ariel Helwani that he also wants to see McGregor fight Diaz.

“I would probably like to see Diaz 3, but obviously you’ve got (Tony) Ferguson and (Kevin) Lee fighting for the interim belt. If he’s to fight MMA again, it will probably have to be the winner of (Ferguson versus Lee)”,  Roddy said.”In my opinion, the reason I say Diaz is because those fights are so exciting. The build up is so exciting. The back and forth, there is nothing like it. It’s just a mad scene. The two fights against Diaz were probably the most exciting camps that I’ve been part of. To do that again would be unbelievable.  As I see it, the fans would like that over everything else.”

McGregor and Diaz both fought each other at 196 and UFC 202. Diaz submitted McGregor in the first fight, and McGregor won the second fight by decision. Diaz has not fought since UFC 202. McGregor last fought MMA at UFC 205 when he beat Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight crown.

He boxed Floyd Mayweather Jr on August 26th, losing by 10th round TKO.
