UFC bantamweight Carls John de Tomas has had a disaster of a run so far in the UFC. Today, it didn’t get any better. USADA has announced that de Tomas has accepted a 1-Year suspension due to failing a USADA test for his UFC Fresno bout.
de Tomas, who fights out of the Philippines, tested positive for Furosemide, which is a diuretics and masking agent. Besides the suspension, Tomas has also been fined $2,500.
de Tomas is currently 0-2 in the UFC. He lost back to back fights against Naoki Inoue and Alex Perez. He lost a decision to Inoue in his UFC debut and then lost by submission to Perez in his last bout. de Tomas has also struggled to make weight. de Tomas weighed in five pounds over the flyweight limit for his fight against Nakao. The California State Athlete Commission ruled that his flyweight bout against Perez would have to be moved to bantamweight after they ruled de Tomas couldn’t safely make the flyweight limit.
de Tomas will be eligible to fight again on December 9th, 2018.
