Benito Lopez fined $1000 for shoving Albert Morales during weigh ins

UFC Bantamweight fighter Benito Lopez shoved his opponent Albert Morales during UFC Fresno weigh-ins and California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) was quick to take actions.

Lopez was immediately fined 10% of his $10’000 purse. The money is to be kept by the CSAC. However, Lopez could still earn another $10’000 if he wins the bout.

As the two fighters came together for their staredown, Morales suddenly yelled in Lopez face, who was quick to push him back. Morales didn’t retaliate after getting shoved.

Lopez (8-0) will be making his UFC debut after defeating Steven Peterson (16-6) in Dana Whites’ Tuesday Night Contender Series.

On the other hand, Morales (7-2), who is 1-2-1 in the UFC, will be looking to bounce back from his unanimous decision loss to Brett Johns (15-0).

UFC Fight Night Fresno will be taking place at the Save Mart Center on the 9th of December and is headlined by a Featherweight bout featuring number 5 ranked contender Cub Swanson (25-7) and up and comer Brian Ortega (12-0).
