When and Where: June 24 at Madison Square Garden in NYC
The fight that was unexpectedly canceled last month just hours before it was scheduled at Bellator 172 has found a new day. Fedor Emelianenko (36-4, 1 NC) will make his Bellator debut. The 40 year old is set to fight Matt Mitrione (11-5) on the biggest stage of them all.
Their previously scheduled bout was canceled when Mitrione was hospitalized the morning of the fight. Rumors were swirling that the event might be scrapped completely, but Bellator officials broke the story to the New York Post late Monday night.
Fedor has won 2 straight fights since coming out of retirement and Mitrione has won 2 straight since fights as well since joining the organization.
The news comes just hours after the announcement that Bellator will be hosting Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva in their second ever PPV event. It will be their first card in New York City and it looks as though they have big plans for it.
