Bellator 164 Results: Lima Wins Title Back with Knock Out of Koreshkov
Bellator traveled all the way to Tel Aviv, Israel for the rematch between welterweight champion, Andrey Koreshkov, and former champion, Andrey Koreshkov. The fight was live in Israel, but shown on Spike TV yesterday on a tape delay.
Back in July 2015, Koreshkov defeated a visible injured Lima by unanimous decision. Lima, who was favoring a hurt knee, was easily outwrestled by Koreshkov, who took Lima’s title. However, yesterday in the rematch, it was Lima that ended up on top.
In the first round, but fighters had moment with Lima landing some leg kicks, while the champion answered with punches and a brief takedown. In the second, Koreshkov took control by landing a takedown, and controlling from top control for the majority of the round.
The third round appeared to be going Koreshkov’s way when he backed Lima up against the cage, after landing a strong two punch combination. Koreshkov appeared to have Lima hurt and stepped in to finish him off, but Lima responded with a big left hook that floored Koreshkov, and Lima finished it off with a big right hand, while Koreshkov was down, rendering Koreshkov unconscious.
The win crowns Lima welterweight champion once again.
