Anthony Johnson To Appeal to Athletic Commission over Towel Incident
Just two days after Anthony “Rumble” Johnson lost his title fight to Daniel Cormier at UFc 210, and announced his retirement, ESPN is reporting that Johnson is planning on filing an appeal to the New York State Athletic Commission over the controversial weigh ins of Daniel Cormier.
Johnson’s lawyer is stating that Cormier weighed in overweight and that he should be fined 20% of his purse and it should go to Johnson.
Cormier originally weighed 206.2 pounds on Friday’s official weigh ins, but somehow lost 1.2 pounds in approximately two minutes later to successfully reach the 205 lbs limit. During Cormier’s second weigh in attempt, he held his hands on a towel that was placed in front of him, and many believe that he leaned on the towel helping him lose the 1.2 pounds to make weight.
There is no news if Johnson’s loss to Cormier will also be appealed.
