UFC 213 has gotten it second title fight. MMAFighting.com is reporting that Amanda Nunes vs Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC women’s bantamweight title has been added to the card.
Nunes, who had a historic 2016 has won five straight fights. In July, she headlined UFC 200 where she won the title by knocking out Meisha Tate in the first round. In her first title defense, she knocked out Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds.
Shevchenko, who is a decorated kickboxer, has won two fights in a row. She was able to pull off back to back upsets over Julianna Pena and former champion, Holly Holm.
The two faced off at UFC 196, where Nunes beat Shevchenko by unanimous decision. Nunes was able to control the fight during the first two rounds, but Shevchenko was starting to gain momentum and a dominance in striking during the third round. This was the last loss of Shevchenko’s career.
UFC 213 is scheduled for July 8th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cody Garbrandt vs TJ Dillashaw for the UFC bantamweight title is also scheduled for the card.
The UFC, Nunes, nor Shevchenko has not confirmed the news.
